Why IV Nutrition?

America is the land of plenty. But for many American’s their bodies are literally starving for proper nutrients. The busy hustle and bustle of most people’s day to day routine has led to a supply and demand of easy to make, processed, high calorie foods with little nutritional value. Consumption of these foods combined with the poor physical activity creates an increased risk for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, etc.

Some may compare their food intake with those which their parents or grandparents grew up consuming, but it is no longer equivalent. Years ago, food was fresh and full of nutrients. Today many foods are processed for longer shelf life and contain additives which are unhealthy.  In fact, many of these food additives are poisoning us.

Seventy percent of the American diet is from processed food. Processed foods contain little to no nutritional value. And in many cases, are full of an enormous amount of chemicals. Processed foods nicknamed “junk food”, such as donuts, pastries, potato chips, french fries, soda, and many more are all a source of poor, nutritional void calories.

It is estimated that there are 82,000 chemicals, pollutants, and toxins that we come into contact with on a weekly basis in the U.S.A.. They are in the air that we breath, the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the products we use to wash ourselves and our clothes. It is virtually impossible for our liver to process all these things we are exposed to. Because of this, our bodies store these chemicals in fat to protect us from their damage. In other words, our bodies create more fat or enlarges our fat cells as more chemicals enter our bodies. This is one of the reasons Americans are so overweight. We have toxic bodies. This causes INFLAMMATION in our bodies that leads to DEGENERATION.

Taking vitamin supplements is certainly beneficial. However, few people realize that when you swallow a vitamin pill or a multi-vitamin, the body’s natural absorption process can render up to 85% of that vitamin useless. In other words, when you ingest vitamins by mouth, only 15% of the active nutrients may eventually find their way into your bloodstream. One of the main benefits of an intravenous treatment is that the nutrients are infused directly into the bloodstream.

Intravenous treatments therefore are exceptionally powerful because they circumvent issues with oral administration, including stomach upset, absorption issues, and loss of potency. In addition, since the nutrients are infused directly into the bloodstream and avoid the gastrointestinal system, large doses can be administered without gastrointestinal side effects which can limit dosing. A perfect example of this is vitamin C, which can only be taken in fairly small amounts orally before causing stomach upset. In contrast, very large doses of vitamin C can also be administered safely and without stomach side effects with an intravenous delivery route.

When you receive an “IV” the nutrients enter your bloodstream directly and immediately. You get much higher concentrations of nutrients delivered directly to your body’s cells, thus allowing your body to better absorb and utilize these nutrients.

Q: Is it safe?  The most important question.

A: Absolutely! Our formulas are administered by licensed and highly trained Nurse Practitioners using the highest quality supplies from US based suppliers. To further increase safety, reduce contamination, and maintain the highest potency, we prepare each solution at the time of your visit to be infused within 15 minutes of preparation. This allows us to better customize formulas and omit a nutrient if it may not be right for you. It is not uncommon for some clinics to use premixed solutions that are prepared in an off-sight facility long before it gets to you. The problem with this is that many of nutrients will degrade and lose potency before you receive them. In addition, you cannot modify the components in the solution and the longer the time between mixing the solution and infusion, the longer the time for potential bacteria and viruses to proliferate inside the IV bag.

Q: What to Expect and How long will my treatment take?

A: At your first appointment, you will be fully evaluated by a licensed medical professional. We will conduct a thorough history and evaluation to assess whether IV Nutrient Therapy is right for you.

The length of treatment depends on the nutrient mix that you are receiving and what concentration is being infused. Your experience will differ depending on the treatment you are receiving. You may experience local warmth at the site of your infusion and either an increase in energy or a relaxation effect. An improved sense of calm and well-being goes along with many nutrient therapies.

An IV catheter will be inserted into a vein in your arm. The catheter is connected to a tube  that is attached to a bag containing the saline or lactated ringers, as well as any other additives included in your package. Your formula will be pushed directly to your bloodstream for total bioavailability. This means you reap the full benefits of every vitamin and/or medicine present in your IV bag. IVs also replace lost fluids and electrolytes quickly and efficiently. Intravenous delivery is without a doubt the fastest way to rehydrate and enjoy the effects of the nutrients included in our formulas.

Receiving an IV can be slightly different for everyone. However, it usually takes between 20 and 45 minutes. All in all, you should plan on taking an hour out of your day for IV hydration therapy. Fortunately, it is a pretty stress-free procedure. You will be seated in a comfortable recliner where you can watch TV, listen to music, scroll through your phone, et cetera.

Q: Is this going to hurt?

A: We understand that some people get nervous around needles, and some people have a lower tolerance for pain. Please remember that our medical professionals are prepared to address any concerns you have. It’s also helpful to remember that they are experienced professionals who will make insertion as fast and painless as possible. If you ever received an IV at the hospital, it is no different. Most people report feeling nothing more than a pinch. Afterward, you may have a slight bruise at the insertion site.

Q: Will you bill and accept payment from my insurance carrier?

A: No, this is considered an elective procedure and is rarely covered.

Q: Can I get IV therapy as a preventative measure?

A: Absolutely. A lot of our clients use IV therapy treatments as part of their regular wellness routine, or to prepare for a big event. Some of our packages are also ideal for boosting your immune system during cold and flu season. Athletes and other people who train heavily use our formulas to improve performance and recovery. Others just like looking and feeling hydrated and well-rested prior to an important event. Please be advised that while hydration therapy may reduce your chances of getting a hangover, the only guarantee is that you will be prepared for what the night holds.

Q: Am I eligible for this service?

A: Most individuals are all clear for treatment, but there are a few exceptions. We do not treat minors, unless 16 or older with parental permission and supervision.  We do not treat people who are pregnant but some of our drips are fine for those who are breastfeeding. Certain medical conditions may exclude some. Our medical practitioner will review the information supplied by each client, so be sure to clearly state any medical conditions, allergies, or illnesses you have prior to your appointment. Our doctor may advise against certain packages based on the information you provide.  We may exclude those taking medications for chest pain (nitrates) or pulmonary hypertension (guanylate cyclase stimulators), and for conditions like kidney disease or allergies to any ingredients in the IV infusions.

Q: How often can I get IV hydration therapy?

A: Frequency is tailored to your needs. Some people benefit from weekly or bi-weekly infusion. It depends on your condition, goals and lifestyle.

Q: Are there any side effects during the process?

A: Side effects are usually rare and minor but some redness, minor discomfort, small bruising, and bleeding at the injection site may occur dissipating with time. Should an adverse reaction arise, our knowledgeable certified providers are prepared and medically trained to handle such reaction.

Q: What should I expect after a nutrient injection?

A: Expect to sleep better, wake up feeling energized, better feeling of vitality.
